THE DOMINANT CULTURAL / SOCIAL ISSUE FEATURED IN MY WORK IS:   

After I read that documentary of true crime story, all of victims came from weird or poor family that leads them to do something or wrong thinking to do because of the poverty. Almost all trafficked victims are young people who want a better future for their struggling families, but they are vulnerable to exploitation because they are trusting, not prepared for life in a foreign country, and have limited employment. Why the people treated bad to other people especially weak people? Are they lacking of love and concern, that what came into my mind. Sometime, we trust a lot the person who will give the good chance for the life. We shouldn’t believe anybody like friends even relatives because we don’t know the trick of the human beings when we are not getting the full knowledge of the society.

LOGLINE:

A teenage girl who is struggle in poor family receives a job from her friend. But she doesn’t about her fortune will be worst after she gets that job.

SYNOPSIS:

A 17 years old girl, who is the eldest from the poor family, wants to support her family .One day she persuades the broker to get a well-paying job. But she had been duped and escorted to the border of Myanmar’s with China. But one day she can ran and escape from the border and she faces a lot of difficulties on the way back to her home.


Key Character

Thazin, a 17-year-old Burmese girl who is the ordinary and charming girl had been running poorly in the past few years. There are a lot of family members in her family. As she is the eldest child of her parents, she gave up her study when she was 12 years old because of her family poor condition. Thazin wants money to support her family so she is looking for a job. Meanwhile she could find a job from her friend. As she never dreamt before that the worse nightmare is coming.

I worte this story based on one of the survivor of the human trafficking in Myanmar, but I made my own twist on that story.
Myanmar as Burma is a source and transit country for human trafficking. Burma’s military regime is the main perpetrator of human trafficking abuses both within the country and abroad. Today in Yangon, a group of the people had the opportunity to continue a discussion with World Vision on how Uncharted can be a part of the movement to fight human trafficking in Myanmar.
Why I choose about human trafficking story, we can make that story to the screen play has been transmitting on TV to improve awareness of human trafficking through all over the world.

Confrontation: After Thazin leave her home town, she faces the humiliation of the unknown people at the place far away from her home town.

Climax (Grand Finale):
Soon found out that the way how can she escaped after five days tortured in the unknown place.


Resolution: Thazin decides she will be back home whatever she faces on the way back her home.

TREATMENT / STORYLINE & STORYBOARD

Thazin, a 17-year-old Burmese girl had been running for the past few years in Myanmar was doing so poorly. There are a lot of family members in her family. She gave up her study when she was 12 years old because of her family poor condition. So she had the responsibility of her family as she is the eldest child of her parents, Thazin wanted money to support her family. So she was looking for a job to struggle her life.
Meanwhile, her friend introduced Thazin to the strange person as the broker. The broker persuaded to her as she will get a well-paying work in the textile shop at the town of the borderline between Myanmar and China. When she decided to work the job from the broker, she left her home town together with the broker, Htet Htet. But she had been duped. After taking food and drink offered to her by the broker, Thazin fell asleep – and woke up to discover she had been smuggled into China. On arriving in China, all three were forced to marry men they’d never set eyes on before: farmers, construction workers and labourers, typical of many who, after decades of a Chinese one-child policy and a cultural preference for male offspring, are unable to find a Chinese bride, let alone pay her dowry.
Thazin cried and begged the brokers to let her go when she found out what was happening to her - but she couldn't escape from the stranger who had paid  to marry her. The hepless young girl had nowhere else to go but to return back to her home. But the traffickers, having already struck a deal and received some advance money, tried to force Thazin to accept her marriage.
Suddenly she had been locked up the tiny room which is dark and cold. She had beaten, Tortured, starved, humiliated by the Chinese men and they asked her “Will you marry me?” Since she argued, they were continuous beating.
But one day, the Chinese man picked her up to somewhere around the market. At that time, she decided and tried to run whatever she faces even she died from the beasts. So she ran and escaped from the Chinese man who bought me from a broker to be his wife when he went to the toilet one day. She ran and ran to get the place as safe from the people who are tortured and humiliated.
Finally she found the shop name which is written by the Myanmar Language in the market. She asked the shop owner who is half Chinese and half Myanmar to help her and bring back her to the immigration. At the immigration of the borderline between Myanmar and China, she sent to Immigration prison for a year. Eventually visited by a Myanmar Embassy official Thazin was deported home. The drama ends with Thazin’s reunification with his family, but reintegration back home is difficult.
At the end of the drama the teenagers engage their audience with messages which encourage safe migration, learning about cultural differences, foreign languages, and legal documentation to protect people from exploitation.

1-Sentence Summary:             Adam is an uneducated man, who lost his younger sister in the childhood.

Synopsis: Adam Cowell is a 15 years olds uneducated orphan boy, who is a guardian of his only sister. As he has no education, he is accused for a crime which he never committed and he is separated with his sister. After he comes out from the prison, he starts to find his sister. Unfortunately, he suffers the lung cancer and knows he will die soon.

After he knows about his disease, he tries to find much money and he becomes a gangster as a killer and he tries to kill his sister who is a famous police woman in a big city by a contract of a rich businessman who hates her. At last, he rescues her sister and he sees her peculiarity and he dies on his sister’s hand after 1 year later.

3 Act Structure

Act1 – SET UP

Key Character - Adam

Motive - Find his sister to unite together before he dies.

Situation – When he was 15 years old, he went to prison and he was separated with his baby sister.

Turning Point1 – When he comes out from the prison, he starts to find his sister’s place. Eventually, he suffers lung cancer. He wants keeps much money to find his sister and his medical treatment.

Act2 - CONFRONTATION

Conflict / Obstacles – When he tries to keep the money, he fights some inhumanities.

Turning Point2 – The ordinary and honest man becomes a gangster by his life’s problem.

Act3 - RESOLUTION

Climax – He’s trying to kill his sister who wants to be killed from some bad guys.

Up the Stakes – He quit his gangster work and he tries to rescue the girl (his sister) who wants to kill.

Outcome – He knows the girl who wants to kill is his own long-separated sister and he can rescue his sister from the bad guys.

Resolution – key character’s motive achieved?

He achieved his motive because he can find his sister and he lives together with his sister until he dies.

FATE

15 years old Adam Cowell is an uneducated and orphan who lives a poor life-style in a small community. He is the guardian to his only sister, Alice who is 9 years old. Adam is employed as a servant with a rich couple who is Richard Bush and Rosie Bush. One day Adam is falsely implicated in the murder of a woman who is a guest of his master couple and is sentenced to 14 years in prison. He is sent to prison for a crime which he never committed and Alice is adopted by his master couple. Rosie assures him that she will take care of Alice.

After his sentence is over, he comes out of prison, to find out that his master couple is not alive; and the whereabouts of his sister, Alice are unknown. Alice, in the meantime, has been adopted by Lawyer Josh who is Richard Bush’s friend and his wife Jane. Alice is now known as Kelly Hunt, a police woman by profession in a big city. Actually, his master’s wife is still alive and he can find the truth of the crime which he never committed.

Adam who is uneducated is hard to find work for his living. He lives in the temple and he finds any work which he can do. On the other hand, he finds his sister’s whereabouts. He works hard and keeps money to find his sister.

Eventually he feels very sick and he knows that he is suffering the lung cancer and he will die soon. He wants to see his sister before he dies. So, he quits the work and he starts to find his sister in the other city. He starts medical treatment for his disease but needs money. So he wants to get much money and he becomes a gangster in New York which is located his sister’s home.

Kelly Hunt who is very honest and diligent woman and she catches a lot of gangsters in the city. So, the gangsters hate her too much and want to kill her. One day Adam gets a contract from a millionaire business man to kill a police woman who is a well-known police woman in this city. So, Adam starts to follow a police woman who he has to kill and he tries to kill if he gets a chance but he feels some strange feeling when he sees Kelly Hunt. Therefore, he doesn’t want to kill her and Adam gives up his terrible works as a gangster and he makes withdraw from his contract to kill a police woman.

In the end, Adam rescues Kelly Hunt from bad guys. When he rescues Kelly Hunt, he sees a big mole from her shoulder and a ring on her finger. Suddenly, he knows that she is his own long-separated sister and he explains the truth about his life. Finally, they live and unite together. After 1 year later, Adam dies on his sister’s hand.

SCENE 1 – EXT. BUILDING 

EXT. MIAMI LANDSCAPE - NIGHT

There’s a big house and a swimming pool and fountains and fields with ponies, and it’s surrounded by a huge forest.

Action Description – A young boy who is age 15 is cleaning around the swimming pool in the big house.

INT. BUILDING - DAY 

In the morning, the police come to the big house and they find a death body of woman.

Suddenly, Adam who is 15 years old boy is caught by policeman.

(screams)

AHhhhhh!!! Why???

Richard Bush

(angry)

You Killed Kate!

Adam

(shock and terrified)

No!!!I didn’t kill her. NO!!!

ACT2

SCENE 2 – INT. MIAMI PRISON – DAY 

The sun is so hot and all the prisoners are waiting for theirs’ someone.

Action Description – Rosie Bush comes to the prison guest room and waits for Adam who is servant of her house.

Adam

(sincere)

Hi Madam, please take care my baby sister.

Rosie Bush

(soft)

Don’t worry Adam. I will take care of your sister until your escape from prison. You take care by yourself. I will take care of Alice like my daughter.

Adam

(honest)

Please, when my sister grows up, tell to her about me and I am not a murderer.

ACT 3(14 years later)

SCENE 3 – EXT. THE POLICE ACADMY – DAY 

There is a graduation of the police academy.

 Action: The students who will become policeman and policewoman smiling and happy parents are speaking each other and proud of their son and daughter.

We are so proud of you, my daughter.

(adore)

I love you Daddy and Mommy.

ACT 4

SCENE 4 – EXT. THE MIAMI PRISON – DAY (Graduation Day)

The cloudy day.

Action: Adam comes out from the prison and he looks to the cloudy sky.

Adam

(thinking)

I will come to you, my sister.

ACT 5

SCENE 5 – EXT. THE MIAMI LANDSCAPE ( His master’s house)

Action: Adam walks towards a house and he knocks the door of the house.

Adam

(light)

Hi, I want to see Mr. Bush and Mrs. Bush.

The new owner of his master’s house

(fair)

The Bush couple died in car accident a few years ago.

Adam

(upset and sad)

Thank you.

ACT 6

SCENE 6 – EXT. THE NIGHT CLUB - NIGHT

Action: Adam is working as a guard of the night club and he fights a gangster group. After that he becomes a gangster.

ACT 7

SCENE 7 – EXT. THE NIGHT CLUB 

Action: Adam makes a contract to kill the policewoman who is his sister but he doesn’t know that girl is his sister. And he is always follows her and he tries to kill her. But he feels some strange feelings.

Why I feel strange when I see her? Who is she? She is same age with my sister.

ACT 9

SCENE 9 – INT. THE BIG AND OLD BUILDING - NIGHT

Action: Gangster guys arrest Alice or Kelly who is the sister of Adam and they try to kill her. Meanwhile, Adam comes to that building and fight them and then he can rescue Alice.

ACT 10

SCENE 10 – EXT. ON THE STREET - NIGHT

Action: Adam sees the mole when he rescues his sister and the small ring which Alice wearing on her pinky.

(surprise and happy)

(amazed)

The ring is a present of his brother when she was 5 years old.

Adam

(exciting and shock)

Alice!!! I am your brother, Adam. Oh! I was looking for you after I escaped from the prison. I miss you so much.

Alice

(shock)

Oh! brother, R you my brother? I miss you so much, brother.

ACT 11

SCENE 11 – EXT. THE LANDSCAPE - DAY

There is near a big yard and it’s sunny day.

Action: Adam is sitting on the chair and looking his sister who is reading the book to him. A few minutes later, Adam die while he is listening, smiling and holding his sister’s hand on the chair.
